What region in the lower 48 states, in which you can reside, has a large amount of snowfall? Me and my husband are looking for a secluded area of the lower 48 that stays relatively cool throughout the year and has a significant amount of snowfall. A small town area of Colorado is desirable. He would like to purchase a rustic cabin for year-round living. Me, I prefer a bit of an upgrade, like indoor plumbing perhaps. But we both agree that large amounts of snowfall is a plus. We do not ski, hate skiing, just love the cold and snow. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did not want Michigan. I should say, he doesn't want Michigan (I would LOVE it as my family is there).
Please can you interpret my dream for me? I was on holiday in Thailand and trying to find my hotel. I asked someone and they told me that it was right at the top of the mountain. I found the mountain and could see the hotel at the top, so I began to climb. Even though it was really hot and there where tropical trees every where, there was a ski resort, with real snow on the slopes. I remember thinking that this was really odd, but then I just thought it was just a step up from the real snow indoor slopes you get in the UK. Any way, as I was climbing up (and sometimes skiing down) this mountain I noticed that on the snow where loads of polar bears. Most of them where young, but some where adults and quite dangerous. The skiers had to be very careful not to colide with them as they might have been eaten. Any way, when I was about half way up this mountain I went off peste a little bit, and was in a hot, humid tropical jungle, although I could see the snow just near by. I cam across a really steep drop that had rickety steps on it. I was told by one of the many people climbing up and down these steps that this was the quickest way to the hotel, but the steps where really old and rotten and needed replacing. It would have been much safer for me to go via the ski slope, although that would have taken forever, so I went via the steps. It was really scary. The steps where really high up and kept on moving and almost breaking. I often had to replace the wooden step that I was on which meant that I had to cling to the cliff and often almost fell. I soon made my way up to the hotel though and was ok. When I entered the hotel things started getting weird. It was a really big, old fashioned hotel. I felt like I recognised it, as if I had been there before, but I didn't know it well. I was searching for my room for ages, I was going through corridors and up lifts. Then someone was injured so I had to operate on them (I am not a doctor or anything). As I opperated on them I found myself inside their body, but I was still opperateing on them. When I realised that I was in their body I got really scared. I shouted out and, realising I was asleep, tried to wake up. After a few seconds I did wake up, but I was still asleep ( I had woken from one dream into another). In this new dream I was in my bed, but I knew I was asleep. I was terrified, so I tried to wake up again. I did wake up, but I was still in my dream. This happened 4-5 times before I was really awake!
Should we drill oil in America? Ever wonder who gets our money every time we fill up our gas tanks? Saudi Arabia, for the record. Dubai has so much money from foreign gas profits that they are now building ski resorts in the middle of their 140 degree deserts...indoor ski resorts that is...with synthetic snow. Oh wait...and The Palm Islands. I mean that's great that they can afford that...but...we're paying for it. Right now...America imports 65% of the nation's needed petroleum...which costs more than $55.1 billion a year. They could exceed 80% import costs by 2010. I think we should be drilling for oil in America, particularly in Alaska. Beneath the North Slope of Alaska there is estimated to be btwn 3-9 billion barrels of recoverable oil. This area of interest (1.5 million acres) is part of the 19 million acre American National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Environmentalists argue that by drilling in this portion of ANWR...oh shit...we might kill a Caribou. However, the Central Arctic Herd, which calves in the Prudhoe Bay and Kuparuk oil fields, has increased from 3,000 caribous to more than 23,400 caribous over four decades of development, which shows that development and caribou CAN coexist... More than 75% of native Alaskans support production along the Coastal Plain for ANWR. What are your opinions on the topic? P.S. If you want to blame Bush for gas prices, keep in mind that he is pressing for drilling in America, which would save us the cost of foreign oil, and also keep in mind that Obama is in support of a new gasoline taxes, which will only make gas more expensive in the long run. EDIT: Moose, I also agree that alternative energy opportunities should be explored. So does McCain, for that matter.
I am really worried about the ski trip.? I am not a confident skier. I love it, but when I start the week, I get all shaky and scared. I have been ski-ing abroad twice, one week each time. I spent some time in te first holiday ill, so I missed some days. I know a lady across the road who is still not too confident after 6 ski holidays...so I hope I am not the only one too! I live near an indoor ski slope. I had two lessons there beofre, but it was poorly run. No poles, the snow was eitherice or slush but that time, and there were too many in a class. I didn't make much progress. I am going to go ski-ing with school, but I want to get some practice in. I haven't been for nearly 2 years, and when I start I am usually rubbish. I don't want to be put into a low group due to nerves, and I want to make the most out of my time there, and enjoy the slopes to my ability. I want to go to the indoor slope, but I am scared I am not good enough to recreational ski. Also, the lessons are overpriced and fast-track lessons are too long for me. I've considered a private lesson, but I'm not sure. I want to practice, but I don't know if I can do it alone. My brother is very good but he wouldn't help me, and last year, my mum decided she didn't want to take me, so I was left at home. So now my sister is much better than me, even though we were learning on the same level. :( All my sister does is boast how much better than me she is. What shall I do?

Where should I learn To Ski? Hi I have recently booked my first skiing holiday. Im going with a group of mates who have been before therefore I am the only beginner. We have a local Ski slope which is indoor but states they use real snow so im guessing its close to the real thing. Will I be better just getting tuition at the ski resort or will learning at an artificial slope be sufficient enough? Thanks Thanks all for you answers, Altho the Wii board sounds like a good idea i'll give it a miss. Im happy that I should learn before I go atleast that way I will not be on my own haha, Thanks agian
Nice winter resort (europe) for family holiday? Looking for a great resort/hotel for a winter holiday in the snow. Two adults and two girls aged, 4 and 6 years. Looking for a resort whereby kids can go sledging (some resorts have these moving 'carpets' rather than button lifts which sound great. Indoor, outdoor pool would be great. May see if the kids want to try skiing but don't want to push it. English creche would be useful for small amounts of time during hol.
Help me name my event!? We are having a youth event for the teens in my church. It is going to be outdoors(we live where there is lots of snow and will be ski-dooing) then we will move Indoor and play wii and ps2. I need to name it something catchy that will be interesting to teens. It needs to have something to do with the out doors. p.s.nothing to childish like 'winter wonderland' please!

How can I convince my mom to let me go on my High School's ski trip? My teacher Mrs.Less announced that our high school would be having a ski trip, like last year. I didn't go last year, and I really want to go this year. But I don't plan on skiing. And my mom says that that's a waste of money and I'll just be stuck inside. Not true. There are two different deals. Skiing, and non skiing. Skiing: $145 Non:$100 The resort also has a 10 lane bowling alley, spa, movie theater, indoor pool, and gym. So I wont be stuck inside doing NOTHING. Plus, Id go outside and have snowball fights with my friends. Who really want to go and probably are. Two of my teachers are going as chaperons, and two parents that my mom likes are as well. The package without skiing includes lunch at the resort, lodging at the resort, and I think something else. The trip is 3 days. we'll leave on Sunday and come back Tuesday, and its in West Virgina, we live in North Carolina. My mom also says that even though the price is cheap {$100}, I'd still have to buy the right clothes.Like turtle necks, gloves, sweaters, jacket, and ski pants so my jeans wont get wet from the snow and I get sick, and the right shoes. Plus, extra money for lunch and dinner on Sunday and Tuesday, cause the lodge will only give us free lunch on Monday{I don't plan on eating dinner, just lunch, and not that much anyways}. How can I convince my mom to let me go? And she cant come to chaperon either. Shes a teacher at my school and can only miss so many days, which shes maxed out, so she cant get off for those two days and go.thanks! side note---- whose ever gone to a ski resort like this, what kind of clothes and shoes should I get? I have no snow stuff what so ever! I go out in the snow when ever it does snow wearing jeans, a thermal and a hoodie! also, were we'll be staying, the girls will stay in one lodge and the guys in another. and for clothes, I have scarfs, and thermals from Areo, but nothing thats built for snow like that
Which would you rather do? Go skiing in Michigan, do some fun activities in Chicago, or go to an indoor water park as a belated Vday get-away? We planned to go skiing but just found out it is supposed to be snowing that day, and we have never been skiing before and might find it difficult to ski while it's snowing. So, which would you rather do?
What do you do in winter for riding? I am just wondering what lots of you guys do for riding in winter. Access to indoor arena? Just trail riding? Give horses a break for whole winter? Etc... I mostly just ride in the indoor arena or I hit the trails. It's beautiful in winter. I went last weekend and it was lots of fun. We even did a short lope(canter) where it wasn't slippery. I am also going this weekend and might even run her through a little field part by the barn if the footing is good. Loping and trotting through snow is lots of fun. Some people think I'm nuts to go riding outdoors in winter but I guess they never really have done it before. Ooh I feel like telling a little story on here that happenned last weekend.. Me and my mare were trail riding with my friend and her gelding. Well there is TONS of trails where we board(in a provincial park) but theres also lots of skiiers in winter. And her horse is nervous with them(he's only 5, getting used to everything still) but my mare was perfectly fine. Well at one point, we accidently got onto a ski trail. A skiier came by a few minutes later and he practically screamed at us to get off the trail because it wasn't for horses. Well her horse got really jumpy and probably almost took off. Even though my mare just sort of stared at him and was like "what the heck?" look. Ugh, these skiiers can be so rude. So we had to explain to him and he sort of calmed down but yeah, lots of them don't like us. But they shouldn't be skiing by the horse trails and ranch then, I personally think. Your stories for riding(winter ones only please)?

What are my chances of getting into Phillips Andover? I am an 8th grader. I only get A's and A+'s on report cards. I play outdoor soccer on a travel team (8 years) I play indoor soccer on a club team. (3 years) I am in the IMLEM math league for Massachusetts, and I was the 5th highest mathlete in Massachusetts in 6th grade and 6th best in seventh grade. (3 years) I snow ski (8 years) I read A TON (5 hours per week outside of school minimum) I do A TON of jigsaw puzzles (up to 3,000 pieces) (0-30 hours per week) <--- this is my art. I am daring and love to conquer my fears. My ssat percentile overall is 98. (94 in verbal, 97 in reading, and 99 in math) I'd like to say my interview was perfect; there was never an awkward pause and our conversations went way beyond the "what do you like most about yourself" point. (We talked about our love of the author Ayn Rand and how beautiful the West is, for example). My recommendations were probably perfect, too. My short answers are unique and my essay is creatively written about the fear I used to have about growing up. I would say that I am kind and I was voted by many in my grade "most likely to succeed". If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. P.S I've been in my town newspaper twice and I won my town's spelling bee
