How can I learn to ski with my skis together? I have been skiing my entire life, but was taught to keep my tips together and I feel like it is now holding me back. Is there a certain way to go about learning how to keep my skiis closer together? A video online, something I can read, etc...
How many lessons would I need to learn to ski? Hi! Have never skied before, and we are planning our honeymoon to the snow! yay. If I was to have some 1 hour private lessons - how long does the average person take to pick it up? Just wondering how many lessons I should plan to book. Ta! Oh gosh? Really? Now I am confused. I just thought I would be more 'stable' on ski's. Oh no - what to do, what to do!
How long does it take to learn to ski? I went once when I was 8 and I'm going to go with my family in april. both my brothers can ski and my dad but me and my mum arent very good. how long will it take to get to an average level? thanks
Basic Pre-requiste to Learn Skiing? Hello, I want to learn skiing. I don't know how to skate too :( What are all the basic things to know before going to a ski resort. I stay in Texas, so there is no scope for me to learn here. Thanks....
How common are knee injuries in skiing? Have you had one? I'd love to learn skiing but I'm a runner and I'm afraid of messing up my knees. A friend I knew tore his ACL and couldn't play soccer for a year. Would being in shape or lifting weights help? I squat 235 lbs for 10 reps with good form so I probably have decent leg strength. I'm interested in doing downhill like I see on TV.
How old were you when you learned how to ski? Were you a kid or an adult? My kids are in ski lessons now, my husband loves skiing, but I don't know how at all. I tried it one time, fell pretty hard and took off the skis. That was like 3 years ago. I'm wondering how many of you learned to ski as kids versus as adults. Is it harder to learn the older you are, or is it easier since you should have better muscle control? Thanks!
Is it hard to learn how to snowboard? I grew up learning to ski, until we moved into the city where there were no hills or anything. I went back to my hometown every Christmas, but I only had enough time to get my skis waxed and get a one day pass. Now I've moved back to my hometown and I actually have the time to learn how to snowboard. My question is, is it hard if I know how to ski? I'm pretty athletic. I did gymnastics for 8 years, dance all my life, along with water polo. Thanks!
going to learn to ski? i want to learn how to ski and i was wondering should i get a lesson or would it be better if a friend taught me
Can 20 something year olds learn to ski race? This is my first year of skiing and I'm 22. It's fun. I'm just thinking I should've gotten into it when I was younger. The instructors think I pick up stuff pretty quickly. I am able to do parallel turns and follow a few of the more experienced kids on some black runs on my fourth day on skis. I've done many sports (sprinting, distance running, rock climbing, soccer, swimming) and have been pretty good but not great in most of them. The instructor said I was pretty athletic. Do good skiers have a certain body type? I'm 5'11.5" 182 lb, with big thighs, big calves, a big muscular butt and small wrists. How would my weight lifting numbers compare to what good skiers can do? I bench press 3 sets of 5 reps @ 185 lb, squat 3 sets of 8 reps @ 245 lb, and sled leg press 3 sets of 8 reps @ 680 lb. Are there any stories of people learning it late and becoming pretty good (like professional)? Maybe I will just keep at it and build up my skills and some year try to learn how to race. It looks like it's expensive though. If I have kids, I'd like them to learn how to ski.
How did you learn to water ski? So years ago I attempted to water ski and as soon as the boat took off, I faceplanted every time. On the 4th of July my family is having a get together and my aunt and uncle are taking out their boat and water skiing. It's been years and I want to take another go at it, but I'm afraid I'll make a fool out of myself and fall everytime. So how does one actually maintain balance, get up on the water skis, etc? What muscles are you mainly focusing on? Any help would be great!
What's the best way for an adult to learn to Ski or Snowboard? I know it seems like two different questions but I've been skiing very little and this next season I would like to spend more time in the snow. And I figure I have three options: 1) rent what I need and camp out on the bunny slope hoping something sticks(eg. do it yourself instruction) 2) I sit with the eight year olds in a beginner class. 3) I try to squeeze into an adult class where I slow everyone down who's in there to learn how to hone things I do not know how to do yet. I don't know how much this can help anyone answering this question- but I'm 21 and my skiing experiences where both when I was under ten. and any place to ski is at least two hours away so I can't really practice anywhere near home. I live in Washington state and not close to a big resort, the biggest being the spread out " Summit". It does have a few Ski schools that go there but so far I haven't seen any adult beginner class options.
How hard is it to learn how to ski? I have never skied or snowboarded in my life before but now my best friend and my boyfriend wants to take me skiing and they want to teach me how to ski. I'm afraid i'll make a fool of myself, do you think i should go and learn how to ski before going up to the slope with them? they are both really enthusiastic about wanting to teach me how to ski....i really have no idea....haha. thanks!

I've only skiied about 5 times in my life and last time I skiied i was relatively good and had no problem going down blue square and black diamonds. How hard was it for you to learn to ski? Okay I went skiing for the first time in my life this winter. For me it came really naturally, I fell down once, but the second time i went down I didnt fall and I learned to turn! Also I really enjoyed it, so you think I should invest in some skis of my own (im 15) and pursue skiing...I have been thinking about it idk I want to get good skis but they are so expensive.... Basically What was you first skiing expierence like? Did you find i thard, or was it easy (down hill not cross country) Should I buy m own skis? I mean is it worth it even if i only get to ski a couple times a year? If so what kind of skis are teh best for down hill? I dont think I will ever get into tricks? true...but then again if I had skis I would Probably go more often! :-) How long do skis usually last for?
How can I learn how to ski? I have a trip coming up in 3 weeks to Mont Tremblant and i want to learn how to ski before then. I remember being able to when i was 10 or 11 but the last time i went skiing i wasn't very good. I couldn't stand up and i kept falling and then i wouldn't be able to get up.
How long will i take for me to learn to ski well? I am 13 years old and i have recently taken up skiing lessons once a week for 1 hour. I can do snowplow turns and i have started to to add bits of parrell bits into the turns this is my second lesson. i know everyone says it all depends on you personal skill how fast you progress. But my teacher says i am progressing quicker than mosy other people. I am quite fit so i dont have a problem with it being to much hard work but i would like to know on a guess how long would it take me to be able to use confident parrell turns and a proper stop as i want to be able to do this buy my ski trip in april

Is it hard to learn how to ski? And should I take a lesson? Ok so my neighbor is taking me and my brother skiing and snowboarding on Monday. My brother already knows how to snowboard and it's my first time going and I decided I want to learn how to ski. First of all, is it hard to learn how to ski? My aunt told me that it isn't hard, it just takes patience. But I'm so scared. Second of all, should I take a lesson? My neighbor is a certified ski instructor, so I was just going to have her teach me but everyone is saying I should take a lesson which are $60. So what should I do? Thanks in advance! Is it hard to learn ski tricks? Since i am in my school's ski club program, i was wondering if it was difficult to preform those tricks where you ski off a ramp and you do a 360. i am a good skier, and i know what i'm doing on the slopes, but im not quite at that level of skiing on mogles or tricks. So is doing tricks off of ramps something that takes hard work and a lot of skill, or is it something that you could learn i a matter of weeks?
Easier for 1st timer to learn to ski or snowboard? I have not being skiing in forever - but our son (7) wants to try it out this winter. Should we start him off on skis and THEN move to snowboard? Or start on a board if that's what he wants to end up on? He rollerblades well, but couldn't roller skate. He skateboards as well. So I am wondering what might be easier for him to learn ... ski or board??

Can I learn to ski if I have bad knees? I understand it's not winter yet, but I've been thinking about winter sports ever since the days got a little darker and a little colder. Where did you learn to ski? I learned to ski in 94 in the outer banks of North Carolina. Once I got up, I remember looking down at passing jellyfish and thinking there was no way I was letting go or going down. That was also the very minute I decided to get a boat. Where did you learn to ski? C'mon cyn... a little frost bite or hypothermia never hurt anybody.
Should I learn how to snowboard? I have been skiing for about 3 years so far and I love it. I'm about an intermediate skier, but I just have always wanted to try and snowboard. Snowboarding looks like a lot of fun but it looks hard to learn. I'm going up to Mammoth in a couple of days and I was wondering if you think I should try snowboarding or not. How long does it take to learn snowboarding? Also, I do skateboard sometimes and am the type of girl that can get on a skateboard and ride around. I can't do tricks on a skateboard yet though... :D soo...... Is snowboarding worth to learn? Should i try to learn how to snowboard or just continue with my skiing? thankss:)
Which ski resort in Tahoe has the best terrain park to learn on? I am a good rider (I can go down black and double blacks no problem), but when I get to the terrain park, I freak out on the boxes and jibs and fall. Are there any parks that will help me get better? E.G. small rails boxes and jibs, because most parks have only one or two jibs I feel comfortable riding on.
I want to learn how to service and maintain my own ski bindings.? I have Marker M1000's and M900's. I want to maintain them myself. Are there books on how to do that? What tools do I need? What kind of lube should I use? I'm looking for information on how to do this. I'm not looking for people to tell me to go to a ski shop.
Should I learn to ski or snowboard? On Wednesday I'll be going for the first time on a ski trip with some more experienced friends. Some of them ski, some snowboard. Just wondering which one would be easier for a total beginner. Snowboarding sounds cooler than skiing, but I'm not sure.
Should I get a package learn to ski deal with accommodation ect..or will it be cheaper in NZ once I'm there? My girlfriend and I are coming over to Queenstown in the second week in July (11th) . We want to learn to ski or snowboard for a week (maybe less). We were wondering what is the best value for money? Is it worth booking a 7 day package now, including accommodation, lessons, gear hire etc or just turning up and sorting everything once there? any help would be great we both have never skied before and would like to get the best value possible. Oh it doesnt have to be just Queenstown we are flexible. Cheers
How hard is ski racing? Can you learn in all mountain skis? If I ever take some racing lessons (like master's races, as I'm 27 y.o.) could I use my all mountain skis? They are 172 cm and 79 cm in the waist. In the old days, did they use longer skis than that for slalom? I know that these days the length is 165 cm. Would doing something like slalom be very fast and steep? How much are adult slalom race skis when they are on sale? Very few stores around seem to carry them. I've been skiing for three years. I've been told that I'm probably a level 8.
