I'm about to join the ski team. I've been skiing recreational for a while, but I'm not too good. Advice? This year I decided to join the ski team. I don't really expect to win any races or anything, but anyone have advise? I've been skiing about three times a year since I was six, so I've been around it but I'm not too good. Here's about where I am: Still snowplow, will have to learn parallel. Been down Black diamonds maybe twice. Very scarey. Most websites rated that just a step below advanced. Suggestions? Comments?
Can you give me information about the world of recreational jet skiing? i am considering buying my first jet ski soon. i have never owned a jet ski before before and don't know anything about the world of jet skiing. what is there to know, eg major brands, sorts of jet skis an jet skiing, big names in the industry and what ever you think i should know about the world of jet skiing. anything and everything. thanks ALSO, I have never even rid a jet ski, so what is it like to ride one and how. i have ridden atv's and motorcycles plenty of times if thats any help.
Is it possible to have a 55min ski lesson at the snowdome and then go onto the recreational slope? My family are planning to learn how to ski at the snowdome. I told my mum that we should have a 2hr lesson instead of the 55 min lesson because we will learn more. My mum (who has been skiing before) said that it will be boring and we should just have the 55 min lesson and then go on to the recreational slope. However, Is this allowed? are you allowed to go on the recreational slope after just one basic lesson???
Can I get into Nordic skiing like I did with Alpine? I used to be an avid alpine skier. Although I live in Indiana I used to take trips out west about 5 weeks a year. I had to quit because of three major injuries, last one a cerebral bleed when I hit a tree. I want to get back into skiing but not downhill. Are there any great places out west that caters to "recreational" Nordic skiers? How do I get started?
How much can I spend per year? If I make say (as a example) $30,000 a year how much of that can be used for things's that are recreational (skiing, Fishing and other things like that)
What is the best recreational lake in North Carolina? New to the area. I am looking for something w/in 50 miles of Fayetteville where you can rent jet skis, possibly lay on the beach, picnic, and has a lot of activity. Know of any place like that or sort of like that??? Your optional is greatly appricated!
Disney worlds recreational activities? How i do i find the prices for some of Disney World's recreational activities such as, horseback riding and jet ski's. Is there a website with the prices or what?
What camcorder would be best for extreme skiing? The title kind of explains it. I need a camcorder that I can drop with from 20+ feet (minimum) and resist very cold temps. It also needs to be pretty good video quality. It needs to have image stabilization (really important because ski runs are NOT flat obviously). There's really no price limit, but it would be nice to keep it somewhat manageable. Basically, if someone was to go to Antarctica and do some filming, that's what I need. I need the metaphorical "tank" of camcorders. Any ideas? I need it for skiing - and I'm not your recreational skier. I usually ski about five/six days a week and do a lot of filming that involves me dropping of cliffs and filming other people etc. Basically, it has be able to keep up with extreme sports. I know i've got a lot of requests, but what would BEST suit all of these? Thanks for your ideas!
Recreational Activities in Dresden, Germany? I am going a project, and I am having trouble finding recreational activities to do. I need to be able to link back to a site, perhaps the site of a place where you can do the activity would be best... anything, water skiing, etc. I just need some ideas and websites if you can, thanks! (This was difficult for me, but perhaps those who have been there would know better than I would).
What is the major difference race boots offer? Considering the differences between race ski boots and recreational boots, which factor makes the most difference to a racer's performance? Is it "tightness" - the accurate transmission of movement, is it "stiffness" - the flex, or is it forward lean? Which is the most important of these?
Opinions on man made lakes? Do you swim in them, go boating, skiing, etc. How safe is the water PH balance? I have visited several man made lakes for recreational beaches, family reunions, and vacations. Once when my daughter went into the water (at a certain Lake)with a white bathing suit on, I noticed later that it looked incredibly dingy. When I washed it later, it felt slightly oily, and never really became "clean" at least not how I expected it to, for it being as new as it was. Then, as a mother, I thought.. hmm how clean was that water that everyone was soaking, playing, and diving in? (I'm guesing about 2 years later) rumors of sewage runoff from Lake homes circulated about this particular Lake, thankfully not close to the beach area I was visiting. I never heard the results, but thought it was possible, (anything's possible), we don't frequent that Lake anymore. With all the oils and fuel being added to these Lakes by boaters (myself included), how safe is it to swim in it? Or should you just stick to the pools offered in the resorts for swimming? I didn't mean to be vague in what type of Lake.. I mean over 50 miles of Lake with many coves, restaurants, housing, and mmarinas...not a smaller one, like you may find on a persons property.
What sizes do we need? My husband is 6'5" and I am 5'6". My daughter is average height of a 5 year old (though she is only 4) What size skiis do we need? My husband is new to skiing. I used to ski for years, but haven't skiid in the last 10 years. What type of skiis should we get? High Performance, Performance or Recreational Skis?
how often should i wax my skis? im an advanced recreational skier and mainly ski in the north lake tahoe, ca area. how often should i wax my skis? i pretty much ski once a week for a full day. what are the negative effects of not waxing? possible to damage the skis? thank you!
Downhill Skiing speed question? My friend and I like to race when we go skiing together. I was reading the recreational skiers don't go above about 20 mph. However we went down a 1300 foot vertical drop mountain (it was in the Poconos, not the steepest I've ever skied) and we were going fast enough that on the black diamond trails we raced on we got air off some of the jumps and were going so fast we didn't know until we landed that we had been going through the air. It was about 40 degrees that day so all the snow had gotten wet and really slick, it was skiing fast. My best guess was that we had been doing around 40-45 mph. Am I a bit high on that or is that about right? (Estimated I know you can't say for sure)
Horror movies with natural outdoors setting? Natural outdoor setting like the beach, lake, ocean, woods, mountains, rural or country areas, deserted outdoor places like ghost towns or old deserted or ruined cities, park. Activities could include camping, skiing, swimming, sports, recreational sports, parties or the likes --usually small or large group social settings. Name some good ones. I prefer 70s or 80s classics, but I also like 90s and 2000s.
Using sport equipment in recreational meetings.? Should organizers of sport competitions for recreational purpose give some limits for using equipment ? Class and price of the best equipments constantly increases. Even for swimming on highest level requires expensive special swimsuit. I believe if we do not play for maximal achievement we need not such a good equipment. But when somebody bring them then competition is not fair. And what about inter-school ? Is it good that some schools use excellent ski or bicycles?
Are my skis affecting my time when i race? I have Rossingnol skis. Their junior recreational skiing, and are 150 cm. They are about 5 years old and have been used all season so far, but i bought them from a second hand shop. Every time i ski, the edges rust. Is this normal? I race GS with my school and i feel as if my ski's arn't helping me. Im not digging into the ice, i feel like the skis are too lite and im popping up over every bump. Are my skis affecting my time dramatically? What are goods skis to buy, or any websites to buy them?
How do I go about waxing combi nordic skis? Several years ago, I got some combi skis, which I never really used, as I was always out of the country during winter. However, now I'm back again and would love to get back into nordic skiing. I realize combi skis are inferior to specific classic or skating skis, but I am just looking to do a little recreational skiing on weekends, both classic and skating with these skis. I'm wondering if I only need to apply glide wax to the entire base of the skis, and the process will be complete? Also, are there any alternatives to hot iron waxing, such as a liquid or paste I could apply without an iron, maybe with just a hair dryer? These skis have only been used for a little classic skiing, but barely any at all and have never been waxed. Thanks for the help!
What should I look for when buying skis? I know absolutely nothing about buying skis...what the numbers mean, what brands are good, etc. I am a 14 year old girl, 5' 4" and slim. I ski blue squares and am just starting black diamonds. I will be skiing at least 5 times this year. Lots of skis I saw online say things like "great for all kinds of terrain!" but i only go on the groomed, chair-lift-accesible slopes. I never go to explore the mountain or anything like that. I am only interested in recreational skiing, and i want my skis to last for as long as possible. Oh, and I also need to buy bindings and boots. My feet are probably done growing, but nto definitely. What kinds of skis/boots/bindings should I look for? Any tips are appreciated!! P.S.- I can't spend too much money, so no super-expensive brands.
Is there a women's specific GS race ski on the market now? I'm only 5'2", so I need short skis, maybe 155-160cm. I'm a recreational racer in a racing club. The racing skis I'm on now are taller than I am. Would a slalom ski work on a GS course? I know slalom skis are shorter, but are they as fast as a GS ski?
Any suggestions on good water ski/wakeboard gloves? I'm looking for women's water ski/wakeboard gloves and I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations. I'm not looking for anything too fancy or expensive, more for just good recreational use. Thanks!
Do your ski binding settings have an affect on speed or control? I am a recreational skier and I would like to know if it would enhance my speed and/or control to move my bindings from 5.5 to 6.5 both are acceptable on the DIN chart (at level 2 and 3 respectively.) I am having no issues with my skies falling off prematurely or retaining inappropriately but I would enjoy the added speed and control if it is possible. I am not going to change them myself. I just want to know more about it.
What are the best downhill ski boots to get? What I am looking for, ones that offer best support? But at best price. not breaking piggy bank for recreational skiier? I have the old style with just one buckle on the back.
Help buying downhill skis? I don't know what kind to get or what features to look for...I do high school racing (slalom, gs, super g), so I primarily want skis that will be good for that, but I also want skis that are good for free skiing/recreational too. I currently have an old pair of Head C100 (I think that's what they are) and they are just too flexible and they aren't stable enough for super G. Also, I live in Minnesota so I obviously don't need skis that can handle powder. Also, what length (keeping in mind that I need them for slalom, gs, AND super g)? I have 163's right now. I am 5'7''. Thanks!!!!!!
racing skis? What is the difference between recreational skis and racing skis? Are racing skis much harder to use. Its my first time racing, will i be able to control them? (by the way i am just doing slalom)
I am really worried about the ski trip.? I am not a confident skier. I love it, but when I start the week, I get all shaky and scared. I have been ski-ing abroad twice, one week each time. I spent some time in te first holiday ill, so I missed some days. I know a lady across the road who is still not too confident after 6 ski holidays...so I hope I am not the only one too! I live near an indoor ski slope. I had two lessons there beofre, but it was poorly run. No poles, the snow was eitherice or slush but that time, and there were too many in a class. I didn't make much progress. I am going to go ski-ing with school, but I want to get some practice in. I haven't been for nearly 2 years, and when I start I am usually rubbish. I don't want to be put into a low group due to nerves, and I want to make the most out of my time there, and enjoy the slopes to my ability. I want to go to the indoor slope, but I am scared I am not good enough to recreational ski. Also, the lessons are overpriced and fast-track lessons are too long for me. I've considered a private lesson, but I'm not sure. I want to practice, but I don't know if I can do it alone. My brother is very good but he wouldn't help me, and last year, my mum decided she didn't want to take me, so I was left at home. So now my sister is much better than me, even though we were learning on the same level. :( All my sister does is boast how much better than me she is. What shall I do?
Any reviews for these gloves? I'm looking to buy the HO Luna gloves for recreational water skiing and wake boarding. I was wondering if anybody had any comments on them. Like I said I'm only a recreational water skier/ wake boarder so I'm just looking for something that will get the job done. I also have pretty small hands... Here's a link in case you need it: http://www.perfski.com/Waterskis/Waterski-Gloves/HO-Luna-Glove-SALE-34.99.html thanks, both of you, for the answers! What do you mean my "frothy simple tones"?
what type of skis do i need? im doing xc skiing for highschool this year and im wondering what type i will need to get, becuase i already have some but they are more recreational ones, someone told me i need a certain type, can someone tell me what there talking about?

Which skis should I buy? Head iXRC 600 vs. K2 Apache Sidewinder vs. Elan Speedwave 10.? i am a somewhat experienced skier and i mostly like the harder pistes, high speed, but sometimes hard carving on icy slopes as well. i am definitely not one for recreational carving, and off-piste skiing doesn't appeal to me either. I'm more into slalom and giant slalom. the Head ski is for carving, but it's quite stiff (i need stiff). K2 Apache seems slightly softer, but it's an all-mountain, all-terrain ski, more universal. Elan Speedwave (Slovenian brand) is for carving, but has turning radius of 10-16m! and is quite universal, they say. can someone help me decide?
Question for MTF people who had penis removed: Do any of you still have satisfying sex lives with your partner? Know someone who desparetly wants to have surgery to obtain a vagina. We are worried to even consider starting the meetings with a phycologists. We are fearful that sex will never be desired or enjoyed because everything is being changed unnaturally, surgerys, hormone pills, etc. We are worried the pills will completely change the mtf from no longer enjoying any of the hobbies he onced enjoyed,(recreational sports-atv riding, skiing, snowmobiling, etc) and we are worried he will no longer have a great sex drive or be able to feal very fullfiled with his new vagina. A doctors office told me that I was completly wrong to be concerned. Is anyone out there who have had the surgery happy and fully enjoying all parts of life including there sex drive?

Are you able to live comfortably on your salary? How much money would it take to live comfortably where you live? By comfortably I mean having the basics - Food, Shelter and housing cost (heat, hydro, water), transportation, recreational needs (gym, theme parks). Do not include your ski resort trips and other fancy doodahs... just the basics. I make over 50,000 a year and although I have two kids with special needs who suck me dry. I still don't think that's enough to get by these days. Miss rude Angie Rae who likes to pass judgement - what government is giving me money? My child is over 6 and does not qualify for Autism services and no one funds ADD. So please tell me where to get this money you speak of on my salary. 40,000 is more like my take home but with cost of living, 40,000 student loans, therapy for one kid and tutoring for the other. Plus they are young so necessities change every season. Contrary to one commentor - I don't get government funding. I know people who are doing childcare on the side and collecting government funding and they qualify for services for their kids that I don't. I am not here about them, I just wanted to know how many feel the same way. I know some parents with kids with Autism who pay 40,000 a year in therapies.
Are atomic SL 11 skis good? 3 years old, used, but being tuned..? I have the option of using them for recreational racing and just all mountain skis. Should i get them? They are free btw, but i can also get better free skis. I just dont want to beg and choose at the same time and ask for great skis if the atomics are already good enough haha no they actually have some considerable gashes on them, but that can be fixed right? and the sky's the limit for what skis i can get. im getting them from a billionaire basically. what is a great all around ski in that price range? haha, but i dont wanna be asking for skis made of gold or something ;)
Buying first pair of skis...(women's) any recommendations? a little info: 1. price range: <$450 2. currently a recreational intermediate skier (i.e. i can get down from black diamonds without too much trouble.), but I'd like to improve, and want to carve really well 3. i'm the slow and controlled type, though i'd like to work on speed on steep runs 4. usually ski groomed runs, but would like to explore as I get better 5. Preference: female specific light weight skis
What Should I Do? I have been saving for a car for a while, but now I am not sure I want to buy one because of the outrageous gas prices. I just don't think I'll be able to afford it. I've been considering looking into motorcycles (along the lines of kawasaki ninja and bikes like that) because they are fairly cheap and i know some bikes are capable of getting nearly 100 miles per gallon. I just want to know what I should do - should I not buy a car and get a motorcycle license? Or is it not worth the risk of being in an accident just to spend less on gas? Should I take my chances and buy a car, knowing that I might not be able to drive it a lot of time time because I can't afford to pay for gas? Or another idea I had was just using my mother's car when I need to, but instead of spending my money on a car, spend it on something fun and recreational like a waverunner/jet ski I'd just like to hear people's thought son what I should do. thanks so much
Moving to Vermont in 4 years......what's interesting to do there? My husband is retiring in 4 years and we'll be moving to our condo in VT so we can pay off bills and fix up our condo to sell. During my time there, I was wondering if anyone could suggest fun and interesting things to do there. I don't ski very well. I think recreational activities and motor biking across VT would be lovely. I'm just in my 40's with plenty of zest for life left and I thank Sgt Big Red for his wonderful suggestions. Killington, VT. is that Central?
jet ski comparison? my father and i are both getting jet ski's as soon as we move into our new beach house and i was wondering what was the best for our needs, we wanted something that had over 1000 cc's, over 140 hp, and had the power 2 make me get on and go wow!!!!!!!! we need it to be somewhat recreational so we can cruise around the bay but we want it to also have raw power and speed when we want it. our choices after a meteocre amount of research was either the seadoo gti se, yamaha fx, yamaha gp1300, and yeah i know that goes really fast but whatever, the kawasaki ultra lx, or the kawasaki stx 15f, im open to other ones also, but give a few reasons why you think one is better than the other............. and another question, is the seadoo rotax enine better than the kawasakis DOHC engine??? which is better ANSWER WHY FOR BOTH ?? and dont tell me honda, i h8 it and have bad experiences with it
which boat is going to suffice? Okay, well, my family and I have recently just put our 1989 Beretta Boat in the water for the first time in about five years. Well, it looks like its having a little trouble and we're considering just buying a newer used boat. So this is where my question comes in. What is the best boat to get? (we ski and tube but we're not hardcore skiers more recreational) I was also looking on line and how are fourwinns for skiing/tubing? What about a glastron? Sea Ray? Thanks!! when we used the Beretta we used it every weekend until I went to college. We think the repairs are going to be more expensive than just getting a newer used boat. we sent it in on monday and we're still waiting for the whole break down.. we had the boat in the water and all it works so thats not really a big problem it just doesnt kick into its higher gear/ or "get up and go" and we checked the throttle and all that and then timing and its still not right which leads us to believe its something with the corroborator or in that area which thats where it can get expensive. but ill leave more information once i know more. and there are only really two boats that are in the "worst comes to worse" buy option and thats a fourwinn and chaparral thank you both for your help though.
Can someone translate this to Tagalog about UAE tourist spots??? UAE Tourism This country is a unification of seven self-governing sheik-ruled emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaiwain. UAE has always been a favorite tourist destination in the Middle East for both business and leisure travelers. In recent times tourism in UAE has got a boost due to development and proliferation of different modes of communication. For example the proliferation of airlines in recent times has made UAE tours easier and convenient. Due to traditional Arab hospitality, crime free environment and highly developed infrastructure UAE has become a favorite for businessman who wants to organize international conferences. Leisure travelers choose UAE as a favorite tourist destination because they are flooded with lots of options for recreational activities that can range from power boat races to sand skiing. Of late UAE has also become a much sought after venue for sports events. The Dubai Classic Golf tournament, polo and crick
Is there protocol for asking for a medical second opinion? I tore three ligaments in my right knee and also had an impact fracture on my right femur because of a skiing accident. There is some loose cartilage too, but the current doctor I am seeing said I probably won't be able to run or do high impact sports again at a high intensity (like tennis, basketball, etc.) Sports have always been a big part of my life on a recreational level, and I don't like going into surgery with a doctor that won't even give me the possibility that full recovery could happen. He even says knee replacement surgery is likely in five years. (I'm in my early 30s). I want to get a second opinion, just in case. How do I do this? Do I tell my first doctor that I'm getting a second opinion? Do I ask for a copy of the MRIs and other test results to show the second doctor? Thanks for the advice.
Good Physical Therapy in downtown Toronto? I'm very active in skiing/snowboarding/triathlons and I need a good physical therapist in downtown Toronto. I've been to 2 clinics where it's a lot of young kids or seniors, and not that there is anything wrong with those populations, but the physios seem to be less educated about sports injuries and less current on treatments for athletes like core-strengthening, bosu ball, etc. I would like a physio who works with lots of athletes (recreational, amateurs, pros) and is up-to-date on the best treatment (especially for knees) and will push/motivate me to succeed. It would help if the physio has a good gym for patients to use. Any input would be appreciated!
Boat building and the law? OK bought the plans sourced the timber got the marine grade plywood for the hull got the tools, know how to read a technical drawing and bang. Our lass asks what the law is regarding this "Is it like a car and needs a technical inspection an MOT to us Brits or can you just bung it on the water and get on with it what is that number that you see on all sailing yachts and power boats even jet skis if i recall correctly. How do you get one? Typical isnt it first I take something up that other people are genuinley interested in and I can share with other people (I have always built motorbikes before) and they start asking questions even though it is a good one and make it complicated. So any boat builders out there or recreational sailors who have any pointers on this subject I would be really grateful for any input. Thanks in advance
Where are the best suburbs to live around Houston Texas and why? My Company is transferring me to Houston this coming July, I currently live about 25 miles south of Los Angeles in Fullerton. Got a chance to check out a few places last week and was suprised how nice the area was. I really liked the League City/Clearlake Area, Sienna Plantation was pretty nice, Sugarland was fun but not really my style. Looking for a new home $280-320k range, four bedroom one story. Going to be working in the downtown area and yes I know all about bad traffic living in the L.A./O.C. area. Wife and I are both in our mid-thirities with two little ones 2 and 6yrs.Things to consider low crime, great schools, clean area with new homes, good shopping & restaurants close by.with lots of recreational activities,we have a speed boat and jet skis,Lake Houston, Gulf area. Im coming back out in early May to look at the North side of the city. I have been told that Kingwood is a very nice area. Would love to hear from Native Houstonians & transplants from the East and West Coasts
Do I have a bad sister? Or am i crazy? I feel so weird to have a bad relationship with my sister. She is over 10 years older than me. She has two young kids, and wants me to hang out with them all the time. I work 2 days a week, and for the past 3 years have worked part time. I am 24. I may sound like a loser, but i have a learning dissability, and am trying to work out my own life (organizing my house, my marriage, all the anxietys that give me stress). But, she wants me to get together all the time thinking I have all the time in the world to "do nothing" with her. I feel very pressured by her. I know if she were in my shoes she would be working full time, and not have any tmie for me. What else give me stress is that she never considers my husband and I on the weekends, that maybe we want to hang out with them. It makes me feel used...like she has no one else to hang out with during the week that she calls me. I confronted her but she got very offended by that, and very deffensive. Recently I told her if they went on a ski trip to let us know, because i really want to go (might I add in the 10 years she has been married she has never invited me on one). She never invites us anywhere with them, but will be the FIRST to get on my case if we exclude them from something! This year was no different. I invited her over for an anniversary dinner, and she said they were busy for the rest of the month. I asked about maybe a weeknight, and she said they couldn't do weeknights ever. So here i am trying to plan a nice dinner in celebration of them, and she can't. BUT she can occasional go with her husband on a weeknight to a concert, and PAY for a babysitter. My husband keeps telling me to let it go....but i am a very anxious person, and it just eats me up. He has said just face it..."she doesn't want to be close to you". Well, if that is the case...why does she always want me to hang out during the week. DOes she just need my help? She always says how nice it is to have me, and hang out. But then why can't we be a part of their recreational life too? I am also mad because they just took 4 ski vacations this year, and went to the Caymens, and I just bought my brothers families tickets to fly out to us from Colorado (he is struggling financially) and I asked her if she wanted to contribute and she said "no thank you". They don't have a good relationship and maybe that is why she did that. I dont know!!!!!!
What do you think of my invention for senior citizens? I have an idea for an invention that would pertain especially to senior citizens (as we all know this is a growing segment of the population). My invention is a special attachment for hover-rounds, rascals and other motorized scooters and power chairs. I have an idea for several attachments that would convert the chair into a recreational item. Right now I have one for every season. For winter, it would convert the chair to a snowmobile. For summer, it would convert to a jet ski. For spring I would create a device that turns it into a hot air balloon. For fall I am not entirely decided yet, but I am thinking of a spring board and leaf blower combo that allows the chair user to create a pile of leaves and "jump" in it. What do you think? Will it sell? Wow, Dawn that is an excellent idea!
How much money should I bring to Maui this July? The hotel and airfare is paid for and I need to know how much money I should bring for food and recreational use as well as a couple of nick knacks (souvenirs)? I will be there for about 9 days, and will probably attend 1 luau and go out one night for drinks while I am there.I also want to go an aquarium and jet ski. We already have a Jeep rented for that week and will be driving to the top of the mountain to see the sun rise. I will go grocery shopping, which means most days I will be cooking. Also, please list a couple of inexpensive local restaurants just so I have on file. So... How much should I bring? Thanks a bunch!
