What are the best exercises I can do for skiing?
I'm starting my season earlier than I thought, next week is it. Anybody know some exercises I can do to prepare me a tiny bit for killington?

- Squats are good. I'll go with just about anything that strengthens you thighs and ankles. Maybe even go ice skating!
- Do some exercises to strengthen your core (back and abs) and your legs. Squats, jumps, hops, and wall sits are all good.
- yoga & swimming are best -do a good warm up of your entire body before hitting the slopes.
- Hiking and running are both good exercises for skiing. I did a lot of that this summer when I went to Mt. Hood for ski race training. Lunges are also a good workout. If you want to go to a gym look for machines that work your legs. Agility and explosive workouts are good to. Like, epic hopscotch...ha. Im not sure what the exercise is called but you reach down to your toes, squat, jump your legs back so that you are in push-up position, do a push up, jump your legs back under you, and jump up as high as you can with your hands in the air. Repeat this a few times. Squats are another good one. Work your core too- you could do some crunches. But if you want to be outside, (which I prefer) go with hiking, running, trail running, and biking. Also, be sure to do lots of stretches. They are easy to do and really help. Good Luck!
- Jump rope, wall sitz, jogging, step touch drill with a round football, hop foot to foot with your eyes closed and keep your chin up.
- Lots of options for getting ready to ski. Biggest things are leg strength, core strength and hip mobility. Squats are great, but don't forget about the rear - deadlifts or romanian deadlifts are great to work the glutes, hamstrings and back. If you want a bit more on this, I wrote an article on my blog about how to train for ski season - I have attached a link to it below.
