- There are a few major brands of Jet Ski's. Honda, Sea Doo, Yamaha, Polaris would probably be the mos popular. There's basically two different styles of actual Jet Ski's, one in which you sit down and ride and the other where you stand up. Since your just starting out it would be best to get one where you sit down, they usually come in 2 or 3 seat variations. You should probably take some kind of boating course to better familiarize yourself with the regulations that come with operating a PWC (Personal Water Craft). The course will also teach you about safety and other rules that are regularly enforced on the water. You can take one of these online, just do a google search. When you buy your Jet Ski, your gonna need a trailer, that will usually be included in the price. You will need to register for a tag to put on the trailer, and you will also need to register your Jet Ski with the State you reside in. I think the only requirement for operating a Jet Ski is a Driver's License, which you will need to keep with you at all times in case you get pulled over, most Jet Ski's have a water-tight compartment that you can put your license and registration in for convenience. As for driving one, it is fairly simple. On the right hand side is your throttle, simply squeeze it and you will accelerate, the harder you squeeze the faster you'll go. There is no brake, but most have a reverse lever, that will put you in reverse. Your required to wear a life vest when operating a Jet Ski, and anyone who accompanies you on it is also required to wear one. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask. Good Luck
